It has been 25 years since our wedding, which means it's our silver anniversary. 
To celebrate all the years we've spent together, we decided to splurge a bit and take a family trip to Germany. 
We went with our son, who is fluent in English. 
We didn't want the rushed schedule of a package tour, so we chose to travel independently. 
My husband did the driving, I planned the itinerary, and our son handled communiaction on the ground. 
In the past, he was just a kid I had to take care of. 
Seeing him navigate routes with Google maps and lead the trip in cofident English made me feel how much time has passed. 
Thanks to our grown son taking care of things, the trip felt relaxed and easy. 
In a foreign setting, we had long conversations over drinks with our adult son. 
It was a happy time filled with a deep sense of family, very different from our honeymoon.
